Most tourists flock to Agra for one reason and one reason alone, and that is to admire the infamous Taj Mahal. Watching the sunrise over the peaks of the Taj Mahal is a memory you’ll never forget. Agra, the medieval city embracing the banks of the Yamuna River, is steeped in history and dotted with a few of the most intricate structures you’ll ever see.
However, the Taj is not the only attraction for people living in Agra. I’ve lived in Agra for a few years now and have seen all there is to see. From the Taj and Agra Fort to Itimad-ud-Daulah and Kinari Bazaar, if it’s in Agra, I’ve been there. If you’re looking for travel destinations where you can take a weekend road trip through an Agra Taxi Service, you’re at the right place.
As a travel enthusiast, here are five places I’ve driven to from Agra at affordable prices.
Holy Mathura
You probably first heard of Mathura in the iconic Amar Chitra Katha books depicting Lord Krishna’s stories. Apart from visiting the famous Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple, there are many more things to do in Mathura.
You can dip in the holy waters of Kusum Sarovar or experience Mahabharata at Kans Quila. If you love photography, Kesi Ghat is a lovely place to capture some scenic pics. You can also take a 21 km trek around Govardhan Hills if you’re an adventure lover.

Historical Aligarh
90 km from Agra, Aligarh is home to the historical Aligarh Fort and Dor Fortress. The city also houses famous museums like Sir Syed Academy Museum and Chacha Nehru Gyan Pushp. If you love religious places, you can also check out the Jama Masjid and Khereshwar temple in Shivrajpur.
Book lovers will also love the Maulana Azad Library, the second-largest library in Asia. You can step away from the hassle of the city with a short trip to Shekha Lake or Nagliya village, where you can see local migratory birds and rare animals.
Magical Gwalior
The popular city in Madhya Pradesh is located 120 km from Agra and is the birthplace of the legendary musician Tansen. People from across the globe visit Gwalior to explore its rock temples, sandstone mosque, and intricate sculptures.
If you travel to Gwalior from Agra, remember to visit the infamous Gwalior Fort, Man Singh Palace, and Jai Vilas Palace. Moreover, if you visit the city in November-December, you’ll get to experience the tunes of the Tansen Music Festival.
Charming Kausani
The quaint hill station of Kausani, Uttarakhand, is 460 km from Agra. It may take half a day to get here, but the little nook of paradise is worth the drive. You can take a panoramic view of the snow-clad Himalayas and relax among the lush tranquility of pine trees.
Boisterous Delhi
If you’re up for a long trip, Delhi is a great place to explore. Taking an Agra to Delhi Cab, I went there last month with my friends. From Chandini Chowk and India Gate to Qutub Minar and Lotus Temple, we explored nearly every tourist attraction the city housed.
It may seem a little overwhelming, but it’s worth it to venture into the narrow lanes of Old Delhi and enjoy the delicious street food and lit nightlife the city offers.
End Note
If you’re short on time and need a quick getaway from the city constraints, pack a small bag and head out to one of these locations. Take it from someone who travels a lot, and these places offer everything from adventure and luxury to spiritual enlightenment and relaxation!
